The AJU Morgan Elumelu Foundation (AMEF), in partnership with the Women for 35% Initiative, proudly announces the appointment of Mrs. Winifred Azumi Elaigwu as the Benue State Coordinator of the Women for 35% Initiative.

A highly respected educator, peacebuilder, and community development advocate, Mrs. Elaigwu brings over 30 years of experience in education, conflict mediation, and grassroots leadership. As a distinguished daughter of Benue State, she has played a pivotal role in promoting peace and social stability, notably serving as Chair Lady of the Agatu Peace Committee, where she led crucial reconciliation efforts between the Agatu and Fulani communities.

Her professional background includes serving as a Community Mediator and Negotiator with the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue, as well as an Election Observer with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)—further demonstrating her dedication to justice, civic engagement, and inclusive governance.

In her new role as Benue State Coordinator, Mrs. Elaigwu will guide the implementation of Women for 35% programs across the state. Her responsibilities include strengthening women’s political participation, expanding leadership training, and advancing advocacy for gender inclusion in governance. She will also collaborate with government bodies, civil society organizations, and traditional institutions to promote women’s representation in key decision-making positions.

This appointment highlights AMEF’s ongoing commitment to empowering visionary women who champion peacebuilding, leadership, and social transformation. Mrs. Elaigwu’s dedication and influence are poised to inspire a new generation of Benue women to lead boldly and help shape a more inclusive future.
